Federal authorities have charged the mayor of Bridgeport, Illinois with 3 counts of mail fraud and one count of obstructing justice. Police say that Mayor Max Schauf submitted false invoices, contracts and bills for services and equipment and then kept part of the money for himself. 62-year-old Paul Kramer of Vincennes is also facing 2 counts of making false statements to investigators. Both men have been freed on bond after making initial appearances in Federal Court in Benton, Illinois.
