Jessie J is having a good year. Not only did she score her biggest U.S. hit to date with "Domino," but she landed a high-profile gig as a coach on the UK version of The Voice. Now, she's been named Best UK Solo Artist at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards, held Tuesday night in London.
According to London's Capital FM , Jessie was presented with her award by Will.i.am, who is also a coach on The Voice, and while accepting the trophy, she said, "I'm loving that last year I was a girl, and this year I'm a woman." She later tweeted, "Wow thank you @ GlamourMagUK #soloartistoftheyear thank you to all who voted #overthemoon," and added, " Lovely to have a night out with wonderful people and get dressed up."
On Monday, Jessie will be one of several stars performing at the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Concert, which marks the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II 's ascension to the throne. At the event, which will be held at Buckingham Palace, she'll be sharing a bill with the likes of Stevie Wonder , Elton John and Paul McCartney. The concert will air Tuesday night on ABC.
Speaking about receiving an invitation to join the lineup at the prestigious event, Jessie told Grazia magazine, "When I got the letter asking me to perform, I felt really proud. It’s a proper letter from the Queen’s secretary. I’m keeping it in a memory book. It’s written on this lovely thick notepaper. I keep feeling it."
