The Grammys take place this Sunday night, and even though Adele isn't this year's top nominee -- that would be Kanye West -- she is everyone's pick for who will be the night's big winner. "I don't think anything can stop Adele," says Yahoo! music columnist Paul Grein . "She's nominated in six categories. I think she'll win all six."
And why is Grein so convinced that Adele will have her arms full of little golden gramophones by the end of the night? "[She] has everything going for her that has fueled past Grammy sweeps," he explains, ticking them off: "Enormous sales, critical respect, industry support. It's just, all year long, it's really looked like everything was lined up her way."
If Adele does win six Grammys on Sunday, she'll tie a record set in 2010 by Beyonce , who took home six trophies at that year's awards. Beyonce currently holds the record for most Grammys won by a female artist in a single night. "Certainly Album, Record, and Song of the Year seem to be locked up," Grein explains. "The only category where there's even a chance she might lose is Best Short-Form Music Video for 'Rolling in the Deep,' but I tend to think she'll win that one, too."
If Adele misses out on the video award, she'll still have won five Grammys in one night. Only six other women have done that: Norah Jones , Alicia Keys , Alison Krauss , Lauryn Hill , the late Amy Winehouse and, yes, Beyonce.
But don't let the assumption that Adele will win everything keep you from watching the show on Sunday night. Ken Ehrlich , executive producer of the Grammy telecast, tells ABC News Radio that there will be plenty of star-studded musical highlights over the three-and-a-half hour telecast. "Even if Adele does win everything, that's not what the Grammy show is. Adele is one of 19 performances," says Ehrlich. He adds, "Adele may win more than one Grammy but basically, that's not what the show is all about."
And even if Adele does take home every trophy in the place on Sunday night, it's not likely her fellow nominees will begrudge her the win. Bruno Mars , who's also up for six Grammys on Sunday, says, "Adele's amazing and she's got a voice like an angel but what I like about Adele the most is...she's one of the coolest persons I've ever met in this business, and she's so real and down-to-earth." He adds, "She just has this God-given talent and being able to sing like that so bless her, and congratulations to her."
