In the upcoming legislative session, Indiana lawmakers might make a change in the way SWAT teams are allowed to perform in the field.
Members of a SWAT team, even medically trained ones aren’t legally protected to perform life-saving measures.
Medical personnel have to stay a certain distance from the scene until it’s secure.
The proposal wants to change that.
Supporters of the measure say only those who are specially trained and certified would be covered by the law to perform life saving measures.
