Manti Te’o Was honored three times Thursday night at the 22nd Home Depot College Football Awards show.
Te’o has now won 6 major awards since the end of Notre Dame’s regular season. He took home the Maxwell Awards for the nation’s most outstanding player, the Bednarik Award for top defensive player and the Walter Camp Foundation player of the year award.
Te’o was the first defensive player to win the Maxwell Award since 1980 ending a string of 9 straight quarterbacks.
Next up is the Heisman trophy presentation ceremony on Saturday night.
Te’o and Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel are considered the favorites.
After Saturday Manti Te’o and the Irish will battle defending champion Alabama in the Discover BCS National Championship.
