During the holiday season police say that you should be careful so that you are not a victim of crime, but it’s not just people but stores that are hit by crooks.
Terre Haute Police Chief John Plasse says the department receives one to two shoplifting-related calls a day.
The Chief says that if you see shoplifting to get a good description and call police.
According to the Centre for Retail Research, U.S. businesses will lose $9 billion during the holiday season due to shoplifting, a 4 percent increase from last year.
To make up for the lost product, prices on everything else go up to cover the cost.
Due to that, all of us will pay an average of $100 more to make up for the loss.
