Emergency service agencies in Terre Haute came up with a new proposal for next year’s contract with Vigo County Commissioners.
During yesterdays County Commissioner’s meeting, several local emergency agencies including the Terre Haute Fire Department, Emergency Medical Services and the Emergency Management Agency requested that for next year’s contract, emergency calls use whichever medic is closest to the scene, regardless its sponsored agency.
They say the volume of calls is increasing, and time is the most crucial factor in providing the best rescue and medical assistance. The proposal also included adding five advanced and four basic ambulance units.
Commissioners will review the proposal before a decision is made.
