No drugs or alcohol involved in Arquette crash, say police

The Scream actor was left bruised and bleeding after he swerved his Cadillac into oncoming traffic in West Hollywood and collided with another vehicle.

Arquette, who spent much of January (11) in rehab in a bid to kick his alcohol addiction, suffered minor injuries and claimed he refused to allow doctors to prescribe him any pain pills as he continued his quest for sobriety.

And police spokesman Lieutenant Tony Lee has now ruled out any suggestion that the star was intoxicated during the accident.

Lee tells People.com, ""No alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash whatsoever. It appears that the accident will be Mr. Arquette's fault for driving on the wrong side of the roadway.""

Arquette was on his way to the airport at the time of the crash to fly to Las Vegas to attend a restaurant opening. He cancelled the trip as a result of the incident.
