GREEN BAY, Wis. (WTAQ) - Eight people are charged after two Green Bay police officers were hurt after being attacked by a crowd.

Police say the officers were investigating the stabbing of a 16-year-old girl in the leg at a home in the 700 block of North Irwin Avenue about 7 p.m.

Officers say when they arrived and started asking questions, a large group of adults and teens attacked them - both were kicked in the head.

That's when more officers showed up, police used a Taser stun gun and pepper spray to calm the suspects down.

No one was seriously injured, both officers were treated and released.

Of the eight people charged, three of them are female juveniles - ages 13, 15, and 16. The 13 and 15-year-old are charged with felonies for intentionally causing battery to a police officer. Other charges range from resisting an officer to substantial battery.

Police believe the stabbing and officer attack are gang related.
