TERRE HAUTE (WIBQ) - Workers are putting the finishing touches on Brown Boulevard and if all goes well the new stretch of road could be open by next week. The new 72-hundred foot road will allow motorists to drive all the way through Brown Boulevard from Wabash Avenue up to Maple Avenue.
In addition, the Indiana Department of Transportation will open bids next month for work to construct a bike/pedestrian trail along Brown Boulevard to Locust Street, connecting to the Indiana Mile trail, which could be open by late summer next year.
Also, another project to replace original bridge decking, plus some bridge beam work, on the Fruitridge Avenue overpass is about to get underway. The overpass will be reduced to two lanes, one for northbound traffic and another for southbound traffic, during the construction.
