HYMERA, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A camping trailer is a loss after it caught fire Thursday night.
According to Hymera Fire Chief Kenny Himebrook, the call came in at approximately 8:45 p.m. Thursday night, of a fire located just north of the intersection of CR 1100 N and CR 400 E.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the camping trailer engulfed in flames.
“The trailer was pretty well burnt down when we arrived,” said Himebrook.
Himebrook said that a man with medical issues making movement difficult had been able to escape the trailer without injuries, but due to sitting in the snow while awaiting the arrival of first responders, had to be taken to a hospital in Terre Haute for treatment.
Firefighters remained on the scene for approximately 1.5 hours. According to Himebrook, the fire was caused by heating issues.
