The pressure of fame has taken a toll on Harry Styles.
A video of the teen heartthrob addressing Internet hate has garnered attention once again after angry One Directioners filled the web after Harry was seen kissing girlfriend Taylor Swift on New Years Eve.
The video (which was a small part of a 2011 One Direction documentary aired on U.K. network, ITV) features Styles wiping away tears as he recalled a fumble during a live performance that led to online backlash from fans.
“It was a massive wakeup call for me,” he admitted. “As far as performances go, it was my low point.”
Contrary to the hateful responses in regards to their blossoming relationship, many Directioners have banded together in support of “Haylor,” even prompting the Twitter trend: #WeRespectHaylor.
“Harry takes that kind of thing to heart,” Styles’ bandmate Niall Horan added in the video. “Harry’s one of those people that he doesn’t like to read what’s said about him, but he does in a way.”
