Banana Crumble

I’ve gotten several requests for Banana Crumble. This seems to be one of the more popular recipes I’ve shared. I found this last year (2012) in the March edition of Coastal Living.

Checked the cupboard. You will need the following ingredients: fresh breadcrumbs, firmly packed light brown sugar, sugar, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, butter, aromatic bitters, 5 large bananas, Bitters-and-Butter Sauce

Preheat your oven to 350°

You can use an 8-inch square baking dish or 6 (8-ounce) ramekins.

First, combine 2 cups fresh breadcrumbs, 1/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar, 1/4 cup sugar

3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon. Stir in the butter and bitters.

The bananas need to be halved and sliced. Put half of them in the bottom of your baking dish or place them evenly in the bottoms of your ramekins. Then sprinkle with half of the breadcrumb mixture. You will repeat the process with the remaining bananas and remaining breadcrumb mixture.

Bake 35 minutes.

Serve them with Bitters-and-Butter Sauce. Delicious!
