Oh how fun life has become with Facebook. Although I do hate that they change it almost every 3 months now. Tsk Tsk! I was skimming through an article on the other day and thought this was pretty cool.  They listed the Top 10 reasons as to why you should quit Facebook.  Now, most of you probably won't. I won't either. But it does give you something to think about.  My favorite reason:

    6. Facebook is a bully

    Lady Gaga

So Lady Gaga might be the hardest working woman in the music industry today. She's always touring, always has a new song, collaborating with other artists, etc. Check out this video where she starts talking on stage about how she would rather die on stage performing for her fans than on vacation.

  • Smug Pregnant Women?

    Posted by Just Plain Joe

Now I've never met a "smug" pregnant woman, but apparently there are some of these women out there.  I found these stories on Cosmopolitans website and found some of them to be just down right hilarious. My favorite one:

"When my cousin Maggie found out she was expecting, she threw a surprise party for her unborn baby. The whole thing was a joke. After a hired clown painted a face on Maggie’s tummy and attempted to entertain the adult guests, Maggie gave us paper and crayons so we could draw pictures of what we thought the baby would look like. Then, she busted out her guitar and sang a tune she’d written for the baby, complete with tears. Before we left, we ate a repulsive-looking baby-shaped cake and received goody bags filled with candy pacifier rings, photocopies of the baby’s first sonogram, and a tiny frame for her picture to go in after she was born.”

A surprise party? For an unborn baby? Really? I've heard of baby showers, that's normal, but this was a SURPRISE party for an UNBORN baby! Haha

  • 4 Ways to Tell If Your Guy is Cheating

    Posted by Just Plain Joe

Cosmopolitan recently did an article on how to tell if your man is cheating.  I don't think I agree with the 1st answer, which is "He is super protective of his gadgets."  I'm a gadget nerd and keep my cell phone, PS3 and laptop all safe. I just do it out of habit.

  • Man Gives Up $500K Salary for $13,500?!

The guy in the picture above is Gary Buslik.  He owned and operated an alarm system company that grossed $6 million a year in annual sales and earned him $500K/year.  He wasn't happy with his job so he sold his company and went towards his passion, literature, in 1997.  Gary has since graduated with his Ph.D in 2007 and teaches at the University of Illinois-Chicago still to this day.

I must say, I admire his passion.  It shouldn't be about the money, it should be about what makes you happy.

  • A Tax on Tanning?

    Posted by Just Plain Joe

This story is a little old, but it could affect you in the near future.  With the passing of the health care reform bill, it calls for a tax on indoor tanning.  The tax is a 10% surcharge to the cost of any indoor tanning session that involves UV radiation. Spray tans are exempt.  Good thing I get my tan on during the summer!!
  • 5 Things That Are Sabotaging Your Relationship

    Posted by Just Plain Joe

You might not even know you're doing these things either! Here they are:

    1.    You’re frequently disappointed by your partner’s gifts or gestures.
He might not have the greatest taste in jewelry or the latest fashions, and consequently his gifts may fall short of your stylish expectations. But in matters of the heart, it really is the thought that counts. If you want to stay in good favor, be thankful of the effort. After all, nothing discourages gift-giving or spontaneous romantic gestures like real or perceived criticism from the recipient.

    2.    You focus on his faults.

Even Mr. Right is not going to be perfect. In fact, far from it. A solid relationship is not about verbally beating his flaws out of him any more than it is about him expecting you to change into his “dream girl.” The secret is to learn to love even the things you hate about him—or at least recognize that they are to be embraced as part of the gloriously imperfect package.  If you can accept his less savory qualities, he’s more likely to be able to return the courtesy—and that’s an indication of true compatibility.

    3.    You’re too available or have drastically changed your routine for him.
It might be tempting to spend all your free time with your significant other, especially during the “honeymoon stage.” But losing yourself in your loved one invariably results in backlash, which might include bickering or a loss of interest on his part. Absence really does make the heart grow fonder. Plus, maintaining your own identity and routine lets him know you that while you want him in your life, you don’t need him—independence and confidence never stops being attractive.

    4.    You’ve stopped getting glam for your dates…ever.
As a relationship becomes more serious, what you lose in excitement you make up for in intimacy. There’s something to be said for a cozy movie night at home in which you wear his favorite T-shirt. However, taking the time to don your hottest date night dress or throwing on new lingerie, may breathe new life in your relationship and remind you both of your exciting beginning.

    5.    You discuss your relationship too much.

Once you’ve moved past the casual dating stage to full-on coupledom, it might be tempting to talk about your relationship more.  Beware of discussing the ins and outs of your courtship, asking repeatedly if he is “OK” or obsessing on your relationship’s rough edges. Not to say you shouldn’t have an open communication, but make sure you’re living in the moment and keeping things fun and light on a regular basis. After all, you get what you focus on.

  • 4 Common Habits Age You by 12 years

    Posted by Just Plain Joe

FILE - In this Tuesday, June 3, 2008 file photo, ...

I'm glad my parents told me not to smoke!

Four common bad habits combined — smoking, drinking too much, inactivity and poor diet — can age you by 12 years, sobering new research suggests.

The findings are from a study that tracked nearly 5,000 British adults for 20 years, and they highlight yet another reason to adopt a healthier lifestyle.

Overall, 314 people studied had all four unhealthy behaviors. Among them, 91 died during the study, or 29 percent. Among the 387 healthiest people with none of the four habits, only 32 died, or about 8 percent.

The risky behaviors were: smoking tobacco; downing more than three alcoholic drinks per day for men and more than two daily for women; getting less than two hours of physical activity per week; and eating fruits and vegetables fewer than three times daily.

These habits combined substantially increased the risk of death and made people who engaged in them seem 12 years older than people in the healthiest group, said lead researcher Elisabeth Kvaavik of the University of Oslo.
