  • Today's Happy Thought?

    Posted by AJ

A Swiss researcher has come to some shocking conclusions about when we're most likely to die-- based off the data of human deaths over the years.

14% of us are likely to die on the exact day that we were born - either from birthday boozing or self-harm.

Because new medical residents start work in July, there is in increase in surgical deaths during that month - which you might want to keep in mind when planning your next procedure.

There is an increase in heart attacks and deaths on the job when we "Spring forward" for Daylight Savings Time - when we lose some sleep and it begins to take a toll on our bodies.

    Another depressing statistic?

Holidays are a time people are likely to die - thanks to the increase in drunk driving.

    Happy Monday!!

  • Reasons Why Dogs Are Better Than Kids

    Posted by AJ

Up to 81% of Americans view their pets as family members, and think about their dogs as much as their children. 71% have a photo of their dog in their wallet or phone that they show other people.

There are obvious benefits to having dogs rather than children. Your dog will never slam a door in your face or tell you they hate you. They can be potty trained in eight weeks. They don't need clothes, a car, or a college education.

Dogs can read your gestures but they'll never make rude gestures of their own. They can learn words like children but they can't talk back.

And they are as attached to you as a child, but are much, much cheaper. It isn't hard to see which dependent is the logical choice.

** Dr. Brian Hare is the director of the Duke Canine Cognition Center and Vanessa Woods is a research scientist at Duke University. This essay is adapted from their new book, "The Genius of Dogs," published by Dutton.

According to a (Duke University) survey, women wake up more grumpier than their men.

In fact, females need far more sleep than men and suffer more mentally and physically if forced to go without it.

A lack of sleep can also put them at higher risk of heart disease, depression and psychological problems and in contrast.

Men's health appears to be less dependent on how well they sleep. In fact, men with sleeping problems showed no increased risk of the conditions that were affecting the women.

Is this really true?  I'm a total grump in the morning.  Maybe that's my feminine side?

Kim Kardashian was rushed to a doctor in Los Angeles on Tuesday night -- afraid she was having a miscarriage.

Kim is four-months pregnant.  She was returning from Paris fashion week, and when she arrived back in LA on Tuesday, she was rushed to her doctor in tears.

A source tells the NY Post, "Kim started feeling ill on the plane from Paris, and called friends as soon as she landed. She was rushed to her doctor Tuesday night in tears. She thought she was having a miscarriage."

Luckily she and the baby were fine, and Kardashian was sent home at 12:30 a.m. after she was examined and given the all-clear. But doctors told her she's working and exercising too hard, and gave her a stern warning to rest.

The source says, "Kim's not respecting her pregnancy. She's running around, working out seven days a week. She's working with two different trainers to control her weight, including Tracy Anderson and a pregnancy trainer."

"She's scared that her ass is as big as a couch and is going south. But she is having a very rough pregnancy, and doctors have ordered her to slow down."

  • Feel Good Story Of The Year? (Man Crying Time!)

    Posted by AJ

A San Francisco man had to make quick flight arrangements to Texas -- to see his mother before she passed away.

His itinerary included a risky 40-minute layover, but he was desperate and took the flight.

After his San Francisco flight was delayed, he was worried about making the connecting flight and being able to make it to his mother in time.

The United flight crew comforted the guy and the pilot even went out of his way to contact the connecting flight to tell that pilot about the situation.

When the man landed for his connecting flight he assumed he had already missed it because it was past the departure time. To his surprise, not only had the pilot held the flight for him, when he got to the gate, the flight crew said "we've been expecting you", and got him on the plane.

When his mother passed away the next day, he wiped his tears with United napkins leftover in his pocket.
