CLAY CO., Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Animals shows are back for 2021 at this week’s Clay County 4-H Fair.
Livestock shows started Monday morning and will continue throughout the week at the fairgrounds.
Organizers said kids activities will start Tuesday night along with a fish fry and Wednesday there will be a pork chop dinner and cattle show.
President of the 4-H council Josh Stoelting said this year showing animals returned to the fair and that it’s a good opportunity for the community to support one another.
“It’s great to be able to have a fair again like we normally did,” he said. “The kids are sure enjoying being back in the environment that a fair is meant to be for. COVID really took a lot of things away from those kids, it’s good to be back. Everything’s going really well so far. Being able to see these kids just having fun, have a smile on their face, enjoy the company of each other, learn from each other. It’s an awesome thing to see and I’m so happy for all these kids and families to get back to normalcy.”
“It’s a lot of responsibility, I think it makes everybody that’s involved with animals and livestock, I think it really makes them hard workers and grows up to be really great people in the world,” 4-H member Sophie Stallcop said.
Saturday will be the auction at the exhibit hall. Tickets can be bought at the door and there will be door prizes. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with live music until 7:30 p.m.
